NHS App (NHS Account)
To set up your NHS account please do the following:
- Either download the NHS app to your device from the Apple store or from the Google Play store depending on the mobile device you use. Or if you use a PC/laptop then open your web browser and go to https://access.login.nhs.uk/enter-email
- Enter your email address and password in the fields which request this information:

- If you have not set up an account yet, it will prompt you to do so. It will require a mobile phone to send you a code to ensure it is you. You then only need to input the code once if you check the box below the security code.
- Agree the Terms & Conditions
- It will then ask to help find your NHS record which will be stored at the Fakenham Practice on our clinical system.

- Insert your NHS number if you know it. If you do not know it, it will then ask for your full name.
Once the system has all your details it will now ask to verify who you are so that they can link you to your local surgery and to your NHS services.
- It will ask you for picture identification or will ask if you have had a passkey, user account and ODS code sent to you by Fakenham (you must request this from Fakenham in person or in writing).
- If you have had the 3 criteria above sent to you by Fakenham (passkey, account ID and ODS code) then use these as it will complete your account setup instantly. If you use this method, then go directly to step 12.
- If you wish to use facial ID, then you will need to take a picture of an identification document such as a passport or a driving license which you then need to attach to the page (the app talks you through how to do this).
- Once the document is attached you then need to use the mobile device to scan your face using the camera.
- Once the device has accepted the scan you can submit the information for the NHS to now verify. At present this is taking up to a week.
- Once verified by Fakenham and the NHS you will now have access to all NHS online services. The home screen will look like this:

You can now access all services available from Fakenham Medical Practice via the NHS app on a tablet or smart mobile phone (providing they have data and internet access via Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G or 5G) or via the browser login on a networked computer.
It is also possible to add a second person’s profile to the app (a dependent) but you require Fakenham Medical Practice’s agreement and the second person’s agreement for this.
- In settings remember to enable your message notifications. This means you will see instantly on your phone when you have a message from the Fakenham Medical Practice or the NHS (e.g., Hospital etc).
Top Tip
You can also enable facial or fingerprint recognition for the NHS app login.
This makes it so much easier to login to the app.
You can also store the userid and password in your Apple or Google notes which can be accessed instantly when logging in, again making it so much easier to get back in.
